Day 10

So....churches. Let's compare the two most famous ones in Paris: Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur. One is really, really old (construction at Notre Dame started in 1170) and the other, eh, not so much (1875). Both are Roman Catholic houses of worship, but one is a cathedral and the other is a basilica. I have no idea what that really means. They are starkingly diifferent in design, but both are impressive all the same.

The view from Sacre Coeur over all of Paris is exceptional. Here's a little idea of the vista.

I think the walk was worth it, but Cylinda's not so easily awed. She's a tough customer. There was a funiculaire that we could have taken if we hadn't entered the park through the back door. Just like Rick Steves! NO, just kidding. Please let us be nothing like Rick Steves.
