Day 06

In a concerted effort to check items off our "list", we hit two biggies on this day: the Musee d'Orsay and the Eiffel Tower.

The Orsay used to be a train station and it still looks like one. The re-use of this building as a modern art museum is ingenious, although the flow of traffic from room to room was a little puzzling. Maybe we're slow or get confused easily (maybe?) but just wandering around and admiring the building itself was cool enough for me. The art...eh.... Impressionism or Post-Impressionism doesn't really impress me. Har har. But, it was neat to see some real famous paintings, like Whistler's Mother and the one with picnic in the grass with the naked woman. You know what I mean.

We went to Trocadero see the Eiffel Tower in the evening. It was pretty great. I thought I'd be wowed by it and I really was. Here's a 360 view of Trocadero and the view of the tower from it.

The stars in a circle is the European Union symbol and it's there because the French President Nicholas Sarkozy is serving as the EU President this year. More than you wanted to know, I know. Sorry.
