I may have overdone it with guidebooks. Maybe.

Day 00

Three years ago I had a goal. I've since forgotten what it was. No matter. I got a new goal and opened up a savings account. Before I knew it, it bought me some plane tickets and rented an apartment in Paris. It's an unpredictable type of account. I don't recommend it.

So, I guess I'm going. I've armed myself with maps. I love maps! I'm not talking about antique old world maps (although I totally dig them, too). I mean city maps! I mean Google maps! I mean maps that are so pedestrian, they should be medically prescribed for insomniacs.

The very first item I bought for this trip before the guidebooks and airplane tickets was a city map of Paris. I have studied this map for the past 219 days. It's a Borsch brand map so it's laminated which helps with the not shredding it after the 438 times I've opened it and closed it. You'd think that by now, I'd know Paris par coeur (etched into my awesome brain) but I don't. I'm not ashamed.

The guidebooks came later. I like guidebooks in general, but in specific, I hate them! I'm not someone who deals well with advice. I just don't like it so a whole book of suggestions on what to do really irritates me. But I love the maps in them so I'm all conflicted. I can't tell you how hard it is to live inside my head.

Well, actually, I can try. Just kidding. I'm not that mean. I'm mean enough to want to take Zekey to Paris with me, but SOMEbody put a stop to that plan. Oh ya, my plan. I'm going to Paris for six weeks in August and September. There will also be a jaunty jaunt to Normandy. If you come back and visit this site, I'll tell you what I did everyday. If you don't, I'll still tell, but I'll just be talking to myself. Don't worry, I'm used to it.
